Using GNOME : Differences KDE

Gnome is to KDE what Mac OS X is to Windows. This is only a comparison of their desktops and their basic themes. KDE tries to take the basic Windows style with a taskbar and a start menu and various other things and turns it into its own Panel at the bottom of the screen (complete witha K Menu). Gnome on the other hand takes the Mac OS X approach, placing the task bar on top of the screen.

Gnome follows what it calls the Human Interface Guideline which aims to make applications simpler and more accessible to people. KDE, on the other hand has no such thing with the result that some applications, including its own K Menu, become quite a mess.
